aesop and the walsh street house

i have wanted to see inside the walsh street house, designed by robin boyd in 1958, for a good while now and aesop have happily helped this come true. if you are in melbourne and also a keen fan of robin boyd, you can rsvp to see inside via the details on the flyer posted at end.

the copy of
the pages below from iconic australian houses (edited by karen mccartney and published by murdoch books) honours my strictly self-imposed ii-ne-kore rule of japan connections - architecture students from japan identified strongly with the japanese aesthetic of the house; not least of which is the the amazing internal courtyard.

happy days. to quote a quote aesop have on rotation amongst other excellent quotes from mae west, flaubert, proust (oh aesop, you truly are the greatest cosmetics company ever) on their site:

'anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old' franz kafka

all images are from personal copy of iconic australian houses
