essence of taste

marc newson designs the aji no moto bottle for its 100th anniversary. the best dressed msg around...aji no moto is literally translated as essence of taste. otherwise known as msg. or umami - the fifth taste. there is lots of information on the design and things here. via designboom.

  1. wow! I didn't realise that people still bought agi no moto...? and that the brand would have enough finances to hire Marc Newson on board???!

  2. i was thinking of posting about this marc newson ajinomoto! i don't think i'd buy it because i never use ajinomoto (i don't know anyone who does) but i'd love to see the actual product!!
by the way, the airline amenity on qantas was all marc newson design and that was surprising to me!

  6. I used to use aji no moto to make yakimeshi (fried rice). I think the taste was better...
Yakimeshi was one of my Saturday lunch menus and I loved it!!
